Architectural description
Alcázar de Segovia
The entrance to the citadel is via a bridge that crosses a moat. The interior is articulated around two courtyards: that of Armas, near the Tower of Juan II, and that of the clock, near the Tower of Homage. The Tower of Juan II (1406-154) stands out, 80 meters high, rectangular plan, the upper body topped with twelve circular towers and emblazoned battlements.
The Tower of the Homage is rectangular in plan with four slender semi-spherical towers at the angles and a fifth larger tower attached at its back. The towers are finished with pointed conical slate capitals like all the roofs, which contributes to the Alcázar de Segovia acquiring that characteristic image.
