The area of \u200b\u200bthis first city corresponds to the current Almudaina neighborhood, which was fortified. One door of this wall is preserved: the one on Calle de la Almudaina.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the year 902 the Balearic Islands were incorporated into the Umayyad emirate of C\u00f3rdoba. At first the Andalusian society occupied the Roman city, which would now take the name of Madina Mayurqa. The city suffered a significant population increase, which caused the growth of the city beyond the Roman walls. For this reason, at the beginning of the 11th century an ambitious project was carried out that considerably widened the city and surrounded it with a new wall. This new city corresponds to what we now call the Old City. In 1114 the Pisan-Catalan raid took place which destroyed a good part of the city.
